It is optional but recommended to block your finished piece. Fill a bowl with water and add some liquid starch if you prefer the bookmark to be lightly stiffened. Soak and gently press out any excess liquid, being careful not to pull or twist on the stitches. Lay it flat on a blocking mat and pin the bookmark, starting from one end and working to the other. Allow it to dry completely before removing the pins.
Cut a piece of ribbon about 9″ to 10″ long and starting on back weave the ribbon between each tr, or trtr stitch of the foundation row. Fold each end of the ribbon in half and cut on a diagonal. To prevent fraying place a few drops of fray lock glue to the ribbon ends.
